Ummm I have only seen one of these out of the dozen or so Saber 1s I was working thru tonight. Note the blue wire going about half the length of the radio along the backside pane.

Any ideas?

That blue wire is probably from an E.C.O, or Engineering Change Order.
I have had several models with the same wire running about on the main board.

Nothing to worry about.

Most added wiring comes from circuit errors in the original mask that were omitted for one reason or another.

Back in the mid 80's, Zenith Data had several laptop main boards with dead bug additions all over them; again, due to mask errors in board layout.

Thats what I was kinda leaning towards, I opened up 12 radios tonight and this was the only one... It did, on the other hand, have the typical Motorola Depot WARRENTY sticker wrapped around the RF shielding... Leaves a nasty residue with VOID everywhere. This one actually has pretty recent tags.

All in all, I ended up with 4 with the 73A PA, 4 with the 23A PA, a pair of low split UHF PAs and the wide split VHF SysSaber... Only odd ball out of the bunch was the UHF low secure has a DES-XL module; the other UHF hasn't secure; the remaining radios were regular DES modules with the exception of the SysSaber which has an DES OTAR module.
