Is "Smart Zone" an important feature for me?

If I bought a XTS 5K Model 3 without the "Smart Zone or Smart Zone Omnilink" flash options, would that be a big deal being that its a VHF model being used on non-trunkings systems? What exactly does this flash option do? I am stuck without zones if I don't get this flash option?
I am asking as I will be using it for P25 Ham repeaters in my area and thats about it besides some conventional channels.
Thanks for the replies.

You will have zones with or without trunking.

Hey thanks for the quick response. So basically its a trunking feature? Only option that isn't listed is the " H14 digital ID display" but that doesn't seem all that necessary either as it won't be trunking anything.

That's correct. If you aren't going to be using it for trunking, SmartZone won't mean anything to you.

"Zones" is Motorola's name for "banks" as in "channel banks".
SmartZone would be one of their trunking products. Mutually exclusive.

Un-related would probably be a better word... But then again, that's just me being picky...
