Hi:
Looking for suggestions for a suitable marine/boat antenna for a new installation on a boat. We are installing a trunked 800MHz mobile, and have looked at Shakespere(sp?) but found only a cell type antenna. The cabin is aluminum and wanted to mount the antenna on it. Fiberglass antenna with a fold-over option would be nice. Thanks for any suggestions!

I dont think you will find anything in the 800mhz range with a fold-over option. I would recomend something like the maxrad mfb-8133. Its a small fiber glass base station antenna slightly longer than 2 feet and does not require a ground plane.

Digital Antenna, Inc.
563-CW or the 883-CW
We use them on our police boats. These antennas are for cell but run from 810-950 so unless you are in the real low trunk channels they work fine.
List is about $220 but you should be able to find them for about $150
The problem with using a base antenna for marine is they cant handle the pounding and will soon fall apart.

Thanks for all the replies, I'll look for those antennas at a local vendor.

This will work for you:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0127409275 . Tessco also sells it under P/N 330167
It has an external 1-14 thread, so you need an adaptor to make it work with a lay down mount (Shakespeare Style 5187 Ratchet Mount and Style 4006 double Female Ferrule for example).
