My XTL5000 use CPS to program it , first it's show FAIL 01/82, than show FAIL 01/90 ...Now the radio was no function,when power up ,it only show FAIL 01/90 . This time is not my first program this radio,it is program many times... Why????????Why????????? How to solve it ?

Have you checked to make sure the radio has voltage on the power plug?

yes, it is has voltage on the power plug, It can power up and the display can show FAIL 01/90 ..

That error is a classic sign of a bad +ve at the rear of the radio.
The ignition sense powers the radio enough to give it the error.
Make sure the connectors arnt splayed

Is this a remote mount unit, or dash mount? O5 or W series control head?

How about providing some more details.

Is this a new install or an existing one that has gone south?

You need to check the large power feed at the back of the radio
where the big red and black wires plug into the radio. Kind of
slip this connector back just a tad to get a voltmeter on the
red wire. Needs to have good voltage there. If not, check the
fuse feeding it. if it is run under the floor mat in an old install,
check to see if there is a bad splice there.

It is the W7 dash mount radio, now I can not doing anything for it, because the CPS can not read it and write it , It can not communication with the CPS .(My friend's O5 series dash mount radio also have this problems). I am use the radio's rear port to program it..The O5 series radio not need the ignition sense powers to power up it.

If i'm not mistaken both the dash mount and remote mount need the "ignition sense" power. On the dash mount you need to use the multipin, not sure how many but I beleive 15, connector. It should have one red wire for your 12 volts which I believe powers the control head. On the remote mount this is done at the control head via the green/orange wires.

I don't believe you can program at the rear connector without some modifications. I program all mine at the front connector using a usb cable. I've read on this forum that there are also serial cables to program the 5000 but not completely sure.

The 01/90 fail means your radio deck is not receiving power. So check the 15/20 amp feed to the main power connector.

You can program the XTL radios from the O5 control head,
the 26 pin accessory connector and the db25 pin connector.
When using the other 2 connectors, you are using the serial
interface.

I have made my own serial ables that use these other connectors
and then use the serial port on the computer. You have to go
into the CPS and change the port being used on the computer.

I have noticed that when using the USB cable, you can get into
a certain sequency of events that the computer will not talk
to the radio. In this case, I just unplug the cable from the control
head, wait till the computer beeps and then plug the cable
back into the radio. Let it beep again and then continue programming.

No..No...No... the ignition sense is "pin 25"

Note that, O5 radios not need the inition sense cable, at least is set on in the CPS (Radio Wide, Advance, Ignition Swithch).
You still need J2 (Real Accessory Connector, Because is a jumper on Pin14 (Groung) and Pin 15 (Emergency). If you put a jumper, well you don't need the Connector, But remenber you still need to the speakers Pin20 (SPK+) and Pin 26 (SPK-). I just cut the Ignition cable.

I recently saw a field service bulletin, FSB:10203, about these exact same error messages with firmware host R11.00.00 in various ASTRO25 hand eld and mobile radios.

Interesting I just had over 500, XTS5000's with the claimed problem host and the same serial number range but I never experienced the problem in any handhelds, it may be related to the mobiles only.

Check with Moto or even better yet do a search on some of the other Batlabs discussion areas and you may find the service bulletin.

Actually I ran into this problem myself were by some times I power up a radio via the vehicle through ignition sense. The Fail 01/90 error would appear. So it took me some time, but it turn-out to be a poor ground connection, at least for me . Hope this helps.
