Press the 0 key on the keypad and note that MONITOR ON or MONITOR OFF shows on the display. Each time you press the 0 key, it will change.

When it's in MONITOR ON mode, the receive PL tone is disabled. You are now in carrier squelch mode.

Now press the 0 key again and hold it until the display shows "SQUELCH" and a number.

The MODE control will be used to adjust the squelch value. The radio should squelch at some point, often below 3 but sometimes needing more.

Exit the setting by hitting the HOME button.

If the radio will not squelch using this procedure, it probably needs to be serviced.

If there is an RX PL tone programmed and the monitor mode is OFF, then
the BUSY LED will be lit if the squelch setting is too low. Leaving the monitor mode in OFF, readjust squelch until the BUSY LED goes out.

Note that setting squelch this way will be lost if the shelf looses power. The default squelch setting can also be adjusted by RSS, in which case it survives a loss of shelf power.

Some A9 control heads do not have the SQUELCH button active.

The Spectra is here and it was set for Secure which causes the BUSY led to stay on and no rx audio. I got the Securenet turned off and came up with the FAIL001.

Luis was lead to belive this Spectra is a range 2, the problem is this radio is really a range 1, 403-432 and someone tried to hack the MLM and messed it up really good.

I put a range one MLM from a T44 dash mount trunking Spectra into Luis' radio and it works just fine...

So now I need either a codeplug for a T84GXA7HA9AK Ver 6.02 MLM and RANGE 1.... Or a Range 2 or 3 VCO.
