converting a euro motorola uhf 1250 to an american version
i made the mistake of buying a radio on ebay and when i got it was not from the US but the euro version.. is there a way to convert it to a US model???
Re: converting a euro motorola uhf 1250 to an american version
I think it can be done if you have the Waris Lab software. That way you can re-load the whole radio. Others have used it before for HT1250's that don't have MDC and are the LS+ version. They just slam in the 128ch info and works perfect.

Do you need to convert it? If you do not need us signaling, there is a way to make your software read the radio. Search and there are several posts that talk about it. If you do need to convert it, there are ways, but I'm not sure if your radio has enough room for the US info. Andreas here will probably chime in, as he is good with the waris series radio's. If you search for posts by him, you will find a wealth of info on what you want to do.

It's likely not possible. I've tried flashing a GP680 and GP380 both into an HT1250 and it didn't work.

Yes,converting will not work, but if you have a HT1250 european radio, you only have to change the regionalcode with
the lab flashtool or a hacked european upgradetool.
After this is done, you can program it with the american CPS and you have all the US features.

If your just looking to program that radio with regular NorthAmerican CPS, there is not need to do anything to the radio, just modify the CPS...err registry... Oh ya, I did NOT come up with this information, just passing it along as it may help you out.
This hack will allow any version 6.0 or above Pro Series CPS program all available regions, not just the region installed. I tried this with R06.05AA on a fresh machine and was able to confirm AA, LA and AZ.
Obviously, one should only try this if you are comfortable with editing your registry... Please make sure to make a backup of the key before you make any changes.
Set the value of the following key to "@%&MAHUS" (without the quotes) and restart your CPS.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Motorola\ProRadio\FSK\SerializedString
If you select Help -> About from the menu and check the Details tab you will now verify that you have access to the folowing regions: LA FD MD AA AZ. I am not sure what MD and FD are.

|Start| |Run| |type: regedit|, now navigate to the above mentioned registry entry and type: @%&MAHUS in the SerializedString field.Vercomm wrote:Hey Hitower,

There is no error, nor any file. Just a minor registry entry edit.

Just a note of warning if you do not know what the "registry" is. Don`t mess with it you will make your computer into a brick. That being said the registry is a file used by the windows operating system to store all the information about the computer and the programs installed on it. You can access the registry from the command prompt by typing regedit. The registry is not a file you can edit or change any other way.

Re: converting a euro motorola uhf 1250 to an american version
I know this is an old post, but is still applicable. I am looking for a similar hack for Motorola EU GP-GM software and EU Commercial software. Any ideas out there. I did look through the registry, and there is no similar string in relation to those programs.
For NSPD, I don't know what software you were using, but I recently did an upgrade to my EX600 to LS. You do have to look out for the version of flash prom in the radio. You cannot mix AN "A" TANAPA with B,C,D's and to some extent B, C or D's with any other TANAPA's. Meaning "A" to "A", "B" to"B" and so on. I am experimenting with the Motorola 5-tone versions of the EU radio, loaded into CDM radios.
