PR1500 User Scan List Edit - Programming Help
I need some help programming a PR1500
Firmware: R09.00.03
DSP: R09.00.02
I want to have the scan list user programmable so that my clients can add or delete channels from their scan list and also change the priority if need be.
We currently have this setup on their existing HT1000's and it works great.
With the PR1500 so far I have the ABC switch set for
A - unprogrammed
B - scan
C - scan list prgm
Top - unprogrammed
Side Buttons:
Upper - Nuisance Del
middle - unprogrammed
bottom - monitor
I can't get it to add or remove channels from the scan list, I'm missing a select button.
Thanks,
Jamie

If you cant program a select button try progamming the middle unused button for scan also. Press the scan button and hold it for a couple of seconds, it will beep, which will put it in the scan list edit mode. I think, although not 100% sure that you use the scan button as your select button, or maybe its the top purple button, I can't remember.

Tried it, but no luck

Re: PR1500 User Scan List Edit - Programming Help
When I had my pr1500 programmed, we tried to set a scan list edit, but couldn't find a button to select...
I have two scan lists programmed - Here's how I did it.
A - ScanList 1 - Channels 1-15
B - ScanList 2 Channels 1-5
C - Not programmed
Top - Scan
Purple - Nuisance Delete
1st bottom - monitor
2nd bottom - Unprogrammed (thinking of upgrading this to PL Defeat later)
My scanlists are dual priority, with the second priority being user selectable. The 1st priority is automatically Ch2, and the second priority is whatever channel the channel knob is set to.
I have the priority channel alert beep set - this helps with not having the display or visual scan indicator.
I also have scan channel talk-back enabled.
I find this really works for me - hope it helps or gives you ideas...

Re: PR1500 User Scan List Edit - Programming Help
We have several VHF PR1500 here doing what you are wanting. Ours are set up with top button=scan, button 1=nuisance delete, button 2=unprogrammed and button 3=monitor. We can set scan list and priority channel by holding scan button until the beep and then use the nuisance delete button to toggle between priority, non-priority and no scan as indicated by the color of the top led. Then momentary ptt exits program mode. Also, another thought, you do have user program scan enabled in the cps, right?

I'm not sure, I don't know where to find that in this CPS. Could you let me know where I have to enable it. Thanks!!
I must not have user program enabled, I just tried what you have and its not working. Not sure where the user scan enable is in the CPS, this is my first time using it.

Re: PR1500 User Scan List Edit - Programming Help
In the tree view, open "scan" then "scan list". The first screen that opens is the "general" tab. About the middle of the page is "Priority assignment" with a drop down list. Select "Operator Select". Do the same for priority 2 if using that option. Below that is "Non-priority members" with a drop down list. Set that to operator. That should do it.

Great, Thanks. It's working 100% now. I do have another question, how do i set the second priority. Currently the field is blanked out.

Re: PR1500 User Scan List Edit - Programming Help
Making the first priority in a scan list anything other than "SelChan" can be problematic. If you want to talk on the SelChan, you either have to turn scan off or risk having the other side's transmission interrupted by traffic over the fixed P1.
On the other hand, if P1 is SelChan, you can use the radio for 2-way traffic without having to do anything to the scan state.

Re: PR1500 User Scan List Edit - Programming Help
I wonder if I would be better off switching my priorities...help?
currently I have P1 set to ch2
P2 is whatever the channel select is on - would this be SelChan?
help me understand the benefit of switching
I also have talkback enabled so that I can talk back on any channel that the scan picks up without having to change the channel.
I am always looking to better - since this is the first personal radio I have ever had programmed. Also, I don't have access to the CPS

Re: PR1500 User Scan List Edit - Programming Help
1. "SelChan" is shorthand for the selected channel.
2. I regard "talkback scan" as a no-no for any working radio, since without looking at the display, you cannot be sure of what channel you're going out on.
3. If you use a scan list for daily operations, by setting both P1 and designated Tx as SelChan, you ensure that whenever you press the PTT, you're talking on the selected channel -- and that any reply to you will trump any non-priority scan traffic.

Re: PR1500 User Scan List Edit - Programming Help
The reason why I had the dealer enable talkback scan was because I may need to talk/or get traffic from up to three channels (dispatch and 2 different car/car channels) with this feature enabled, I can talk after getting traffic without having to pull the radio out of the holder, and switch channels - thereby taking my attention off of the suspects in front of me. I think, after reading this, i may switch my P1 and P2. Make my P1 the SelChan and make my dispatch P2...
I have found that having the two scan lists is a handy feature...I have one for when I'm scanning whatever is going on in the county, and another, shorter scanlist for when I go on a call, and am only interested in hearing traffic that may pertain to me...

First, let me say, my mind wasn't thinking about what my fingers were saying above. We do not set the priority 1 to user. We use selected channel also for reasons stated above.Vercomm wrote:Great, Thanks. It's working 100% now. I do have another question, how do i set the second priority. As to the question, if you have "dynamic priority" checked ( on the same screen ) you won't have p2 available. There may be somewhere in the cps to disable p2 but I haven't found it yet.
