I now have an official licensed copy of Series2 RSS. Problem is....
I can read any of the cards just fine. I am using a cable made by a friend. Problem is....
102 ERROR Unable to communicate with TTY.
Can anyone tell me what is happening? The instructions I used for the cable are here...

if the cable is as per figure 4 then thats correct.
You may have a jumper set wrong on the RS22 card
or your PC is running to fast.
when do you get the error?

Well what happens is I can read the TOMI card just fine. I simply try and upload to it and It will say
Setting Up CEB. Then it will say uploading and then give the ERROR 102. The way it was talking about except we made it straight 9pin to RJ45. I can't see the need for the other 25pin deal. I might be wrong though. I have a BLN6755B and the manual I have only says A or C. I tried both jumper settings with no change. I can still read, but not write.

Also... I am doing it with a 75MHz machine. Do I need something slower?

Make sure you have the correct TDM address of the TOMI you want to program. Also make sure you're using option 5 ( program via CEB ) and option 1 (TOMI card).

Sorry, I wasn't sure. All of mine are BLN1170B

I don't believe there were any 6809 TOMI's, just 6809 OMI's and the TOMI's are all 68000....
BLI, make sure the RS232 card is jumpered per the manual for TOMI programming...

Ok, Here it goes.
I have tried both jumper settings for TOMI. I can read the card just fine. I can not write to the card at all. If I can read with the cable then can't I write with it? Both the jumper settings in the manual for software RVN4029k both say they will work with BLN1170B. The thing is that my RS232 is BLN6755B and not A or C which is what is shown in the manual. I have tried with 3 different computers.
What is the easiest way to determine what the TDM addressing is for the card I am programming. I just used what was wrote on the card which is.
TDM Slot 08

My guess (only a guess) without digging further is, he has a eprom for a pers prom, not an eeprom.
Is the pers prom a UV prom, or an X28 eeprom?

Excellent point TPG.
BLI, you may need to replace the PersPROM on the TOMI if it is indeed a UV erasable EPROM.
Take a look at the chips on the TOMI... If any of them have a UV erase window on them, well, you need to upgrade your TOMI's... That would explain why you can read but not write.
I've never come across anything except CCII OMI's that have UV EPROMS on them... But I know TOMI's with the older-style UV EPROM are out there... Thats how they originally started... the EEPROM thing was an upgrade/later release.
Let us know BLI.

I tend to agree that you have proms instead of eeproms.
TIMI's and TOMI's definatly came out in uvproms, i remember burning new ones constantly.
Then the upgrade kit came out and that was that.

The big chip has this on it:
/\/\ MC68000P8
2C9IE
QEEZ9219
I do not know what UV windows lool like as I am visually impaired some. I will post a pic to the board if that helps. How much does the upgrade cost or can I even get it anymore?

can you take a pic (focused) of the prom that is 2nd from the TDM dip switches? Remove the label that probably has a serial number on it.
Again, look at the lower left of the board (in your pic) and find the TDM dip switches, now go 2 proms to the right.
That's the pers prom. Pull the label off and tell me the part numbers on the chip, or take a pic.

ok it has a window on it
that means its a UV EPROMS
that is the problem.

Ok, Now that explains it. So now, what do I need todo exactly. Where can I find an upgrade kit or what can I do to program all the settings? Also does this affect programming of other BIMs? As far as I know I only have 2 TOMIs. How much will this cost?

From Memory it s just a generic chip.
Read the old one , put in the new one and program.
The other way is with a uv eraser and prom programmer. MESSY.
I will look tommorrow.

Does this mean I can program the changes with my RS232 card? I would also love to know the cost of the upgrade kit.

The "upgrade kit" is just the new eeprom.
After you install the new prom, you will be able to program the TOMI as much as you'd like via RS232 card.

So I just replace the chip one time and that is it? And also, Is this the only chip on the board that has to be replaced?

Billy,
Yeah, thats the only chip you need to replace. I would suggest that you do it for *ALL* TOMI's in your CEB, that way you dont have to repeat this process if you decide to make changes to the other OP's.
Make sure you READ and SAVE prior to the replacement of the PROM... And I understand you're visually impaired, so you might want to request some assistance with changing out the PROM's, as bent/broken pins = no good.

Guys, I realy appreciate your quick responses on my issue. I will see if I can order them. It appears that Mouser is out of them or something. Do you know of any other possible places to get them?

I will check my parts tub at home and see if I have any. If I do, I'll send you however many I can spare, gratis.
I HIGHLY doubt I have them, but stranger things have happened.

I haven't had any luck locating a place to order the right EEPROMS. If any of you can tell me an alternitive or a place to locate them please let me know. Mouse seems to have to back order them.
