MDC with LTR including emergency Encode / Decode

Sorry to post this but Wavetars post in the Knowledge Base is broken.

Does anybody know what Motorola mobiles and portables will do MDC on LTR including emergency encode and decode?

I have tried an HT1250LS+ and it will do MDC but will not encode or decode an emergency, the emergency field doesn't exist under the MDC menu.

The PM400 will encode an emergency but not decode and emergency and does do MDC in LTR.

The HT1550XLS will encode and decode an emergency and MDC in LTR.

The CDM1550LS+ will not encode or decode an emergency but does do MDC in LTR.

Maybe a straight CDM1550LS or HT1250LS with no Passport will have the emergency feature?

The straight LS units won't do what you want. A straight CDM1550 (conventional only, no LTR/Passport at all) can do emergency encode/decode. Also, a CDM1550LS+ with the model number ending in "6AN" can also do it. The one you have is a "5AN" model.

Only the HT/CDM1550 tier can decode the emergency. It's not a feature of the HT/CDM1250 or PR/PM400 tier...encode only.

i was under the impression that the ht1550 won't decode the emergency signal? mobiles only? i've got one but never tried it out, i'll have to dig out the manual and see.

Yeah, it was implemented in a recent firmware update, from what I've read. Haven't tried it yet myself, but I have one at work I will soon try it with, now that you mention it.

Ht1550's will decode and acknowledge emergencies, just like a console. We have a FD that is using them on there firegrounds.
