Mazda 6 anyone ?

We have a wagon and a sedan Mazda 6.
The sedan is a hatchback and the preferred vehicle for a radio.

-- Where to put a permanent antenna ? Thinking 1/4 wave VHF, or an NMO that I could swap with a UHF as need be.

-- Any issues of RF getting into things ?

Thanks. We've had them long enough I'm ready to punch a hole.
Great cars by the way. Have a V-6 and the OHC 4, with 5-spds in both.

Rig will either be an MT1000 with the "vehicle adapter" and an amplifier, or my trusty MCX-100 and an amp if I can find someone to burn me a new EPROM or two.

I did about 10 installs for the dea. They have 2 110 watt radios. 2 cars i used a dual band stico glass mount, 6 we used a stico fender mount antenna and 2 i used the stico dual band antenna made for the mazda 6.

I use a 17-inch dualbander on an NMO base. Costs
about $15 and for all around work it can't be beat.
I get mine from Antenna World in Florida; they have
a website.

I've owned three Hondas and three Subarus since 1989,
all with holes punched in either the roof or trunk lid,
with 50-watt radios, and have never had any indication
of problems caused by RF getting in the cars' electronics.
I did once own a 1985 Pontiac 6000STE whose cruise
control would cut out when I hit the PTT on the radio,
but I think cars have come a long way since then.

Most new cars today have warnings about RF and the
installation of two-way radios but it certainly looks as if
most of us simply ignore those warnings with no untoward
results.

I have a Mazda 6 2.3 sport sedan. Installed Yeasu FT-8500 V/U mobile radio with daimond antenna.
I have some picture show the outlook after installation. Feel free PM me your mail address if you interested.

Very cool on the Sti-Co antenna, MZ6-SB-VHF

I have written to the company asking a few technical questions, including whether there's any hope this antenna has GAIN or whether it's unity gain.

Any sense of whether the coax is low-loss ?

And how does that coupler box perform. Do you lose much to the AM/FM radio ?
