I don't know if it has been covered here or not but Motorola has put up a web site of pictures of their equipment. It replaces the Lincoln one. Just need to register.

I agree. Blows goats.

I got my registration approved this morning, no hassle. I just put that I used to have access to the other one, and I hear this is the "Replacement."

I would rate this as: Not worth your 2 minutes to register for. You can't even download an image without using a few fancy web plugins for firefox, screenshots, or other techniques. About the only photo I could find searching for "XTS" was a single photo of a bunch of XTS "Impress" batteries, which were missing both the impress stickers, and the Impress engraving on the batteries. Idiots.

The biggest problem that I see with this site, is that people are going to see the images and treat them as "what they are getting" or what they are ordering.

Lincoln Creative was a very accurate database, with lots of up-to-date photography available to anyone. They should have used that on MOL to help ease their pressure on parts identification.

Granted, I don't know how big companies think, and I don't really care to know. The big concern that I see thinking about it more, is them having people who haven't seen the crap before go "oh, this is xyz."

I wonder if the admin of that site is like WTF is up with all the registrations on a SUNDAY for that site... That's weird, the referer in the logs is showing 3,000 clicks from batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.... :)

After getting my registraton approved and looking at the site, it contains little more than models with phones. Nothing even close to the old one. I did fire off an email to them.....I'll see what they say.

OK - I'm willing to take pictures of my meager stash of radios. Question for the phtotographers: Background paper - what color is best (and potentially makes photochopping the radios easier)

I have a little free time now and then and access to all 3 types of 3000 and 5000 models as well as spectra and astro spectra equipment. I also have access to some centracom equipment, base stations, remotes, quantars, micors, etc.

I say this because I would be willing to take/post pictures to our gallery. What would we like to display? Everything I can get my hands and camera on or just the newest? What about pictures of the internal parts of the radios?

I'm open to suggestions.

I don't have control over http://www.batlabs.com. Only batboard.batlabs.com. There's nothing really that I can do to help at this point.

You can always follow the contact us instructions on the main site, and see what happens with that. I can't guarentee results. I'd offer to collect the images, but I don't have time. If someone wants to take the time, and update that particular page, I can probably forward it on for updating it on the server, but that's all I can do.

If I had the time, I'd do it, but I honestly don't, and it would fall aside.

I'm happy to do this. either hosting the pics on batlabs or my own site.

I suggested that a year ago since I've installed and used quite a number of web-photo gallery software from free to commercial ones, but I got shot down. I guess they like the "made-in-Notepad-with-basic-HTML" look... can't really help those who don't want help.

Who knows. I'm not involved really in the main site. I'd like to do more, but I just don't have the time. If Cbus wants to help out and just do the page, send me the page and images, I can forward them on. I don't really have a problem if someone wants to help update some main pages and forward them through me. I can't guarantee the change, but we can try...

I sent an email to the contact on the main page. I asked how the pics were posted, what types of files, etc. and also asked if one or two others could gain acces to make updates. It seems like there is some interest so hoepfully we can get a few of us involved so it is not too overwhelming.

We are using KBPublisher on our intranet, with the mySQL backend. It can import photographs, with text descriptions. PDF linking works very well.

Is this product secure enough for a server exposed to the internet?

But at the end of the day, who's paying the server fees?

I've always wanted to do a MotoWiki since we're in Web 2.0 era now, as there are a ton of extra info scattered all over Batboard but not on the list. But most are quite hesitant (understandably) due to Wiki-vandals.

A while ago I spent a bit of time cleaning up the index page to the RR Motorola wiki:
http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.ph ... dio_Models

That's why we have knowledge base... same concept, but not really a wiki.
