I have a Spectra 900Mhz Mod# D37KGA5 that is a Trunked Dual Mode. Is there a way to make this a conventional only ?

Yes. Get thee to MOFLAG hacking.

I would also be interestd in this as well. More specifically which Moflags to modify which need to be turned on or off. If anyone has a complete Moflag list from a conventional radio, posting it would be appreciated. Iam finding the moflags are not in the same locations. I assume it changes with versions of firmware. Is there a map of moflag locations (control BD and MLN) available for various versions of firmware.

Easiest way:

Find out what MLM version your radio has
Find a codeplug of a 900Mhz conventional radio. Follow the guide in the forum to change the serial and model number to the codeplug you found.
Clone the codeplug onto your radio
Now you have a 900Mhz conventional radio!

ok found some codeplugs but how do you read them. put them on a floppy and get archive not foumd no such file or directory. I think it is looking for the .DBF file but since the floppy only contains the codeplug files it fails. is there a way to create the database file? I tried to read a previous dbf file in excel it reads ok I see the info and changed the info about the new codeplugs but after re saving in same db4 format that it read, the program says it is an invalid archive when I try to load it and I cannot clone without reading a valid codeplug. All those trees I can't find the forest

Alternatively:

Start with worthless junk, B2.
Whore radio out. You know what I mean.
Convert to C2.
Delete useless trunking mode
Convert to A2
Program as you see fit, and what the MLM will let you do.

Almost every step except for the first one, you have to do the moflag fuckery, read, program, reboot or some crazy dance like that. Do yourself a favor and DONT drink while doing this. If you drink for each cycle of read program reboot, you're likely to passout before you finish. Results not guaranteed. Don't even think of returning this radio to commercial service. YMMW. Don't take any wooden nickles. Not responsible for bricked Spectras. Backup, backup, backup, backup. Watch out for low flying geese. Gertrude, fetch me my slippers.

Well here is an update on my trials and tribulations. almost successfully made the conversion. program says it is conventional but cannot delete last trunk mode, any thoughts here. Even though the radio wide screen says 128 mode I cannot add more than 10 conv modes. I moflagged out all of the trunk related options in the process. Had to hunt around to find the matching locations for the MLM so the changes would stick on reboot. I thouht if I could find the location of that last trunk mode data and zero that out would that clear the last trunk mode? is the last trunk mode showing keeping me from adding more modes even though it shows more available in radio wide. Or are there other techniques any guru out there might pass along to this humble surf.

Thanks

Larry

Don't read what I posted; I don't know what I'm talking about.

My apologies for being thick headed. I was once told that a little knowledge is very dangerous. I certainly fall in that category. A more comprehensive insight of a successful process would be very much appreciated. i.e.
whoring out radio? not sure what this means exactly.

Please help me fill in my blanks.

converting to B2. ( is this interim step that allows removal of last trunk mode?)

Assuming a trunking radio with model # D37KGA5JB5AK would change to D37KGA5JC2AK
than bitbanging the model info should look like this

MLM Command
D 6048 & B675 =44
3 6049 & B676 = 33
7 604A & B677 =37
K 604B & B678 = 4B
G 604C & B679 = 47
A 604D & B67A = 41
5 604E & B67B = 35
J 604F & B67C = 4A
C 6050 & B67D = 43
2 6051 & B67E = 32
A 6052 & B67F = 41
K 6053 & B680 = 4B

Which Moflags would need to be reset. A representative string here is helpful. At this point would the Last trunk mode be able to be deleted? I haven't had any luck getting rid of the last trunk mode. Assuming again removing last trunk mode was accomplished than. changing to A2

MLM Command
D 6048 & B675 =44
3 6049 & B676 = 33
7 604A & B677 =37
K 604B & B678 = 4B
M 604C & B679 = 4D
A 604D & B67A = 41
5 604E & B67B = 35
J 604F & B67C = 4A
A 6050 & B67D = 41
2 6051 & B67E = 32
A 6052 & B67F = 41
K 6053 & B680 = 4B

Again proper moflag data string would help understand what I am doing.

Is it OK now to change the model to reflect an A7 control head by changing 6051 & B67E to 37. And what about control head type bit location 6060 that has stayed at AF (A5 head). correct me but shouldn't this also be changed to ED if I wanted to use a head with keypad?

As you can see my research has garnered some info but my implementation and understanding of what I am doing leaves much to be desired. I am amazed my radio has not yet been relegated to a door stop. Much more to the robustness of the radio not the person fussing around inside.

I very much appreciate the huge amount of patience members of this board have shown me in making this conversion.

Larry
