Programming a CM400 mobile
Hello all...my Fire Dept purchased a CM400 radio, and our lovely M shop programmed the Alpha tags so it only says pers 1, etc instead of using the Alpha tags we requested...which software do we need to reprogram it, and what programming cable due I use. I know this is a long shot being a fairly new radio and all, but this particular M shop has no brain, and if I were the one who purchased radios all the time I would have used the other shop in town...but hey thats why I am the Asst Comm officer...anywho, all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Programming a CM400 mobile
There is no such model as a CM400. Maybe it's one of those phantom models like the CDM1250-LS?
Anyways, the CM200, CM300 and PM400 all use the Commercial Series CPS, which I believe is currently at R05.06 or R05.07

It is a PM, my bad, I was typing faster than I was thinking...Thanks for the software info, now I just need to know which programming cable to use, or does it use the same cable as the radius/maratrac/maxtrac radios?

I never check PM's so don't bother, just email me.
I won't reply to a hotmail, gmail, aol or any other generic free address, if you want me to reply use a real address.

Re: Programming a CM400 mobile
If someone would give me instructions on how to build the programming cable that would be nice too, but I suspect that its not s simple rib to radio cable...

Re: Programming a CM400 mobile
Is this the proper cable? You would not need any of the connections for the test part, only the few connections from the
RIB connector to the twenty pin ACCY connector.

Re: Programming a CM400 mobile
Can this radio only be programmed from the 16 pin plug on the back or can it be programmed from the mic port on the front? And I confirmed today that this is a CM300 not a pm400...thanks.

Re: Programming a CM400 mobile
I program CM300s through the mic port on the front panel. If you need a copy of the cable schematic, PM me a fax number where I can send it.
Re: Programming a CM400 mobile
The 'shop' probably doesn't even know how to change the alpha tags...you need to right-click on the "pers 1", "pers 2", etc and choose "rename".
