IMPRES charging times?

i must admit, this is the first time that i had both the IMPRES charger AND an IMPRES battery... its a v3.4 charger, and the XTS-2500 IMPRES battery, NTN9858C...
after programming the radio last night at around 9 PM, i rested the radio into the charger for a good nights sleep... 5 AM, i go to work, and its still charging? 8 hour charge? is this right?
also, if there's an online manual, website, or manual number, i would appreciate it...

was it orange or RED ?
definately not unusual - if the charger / battery went into a conditioning cycle it will take the battery all the way down (controlled discharge) and then back up.....

Wait, so this was the initial charge cycle?

no.. the radio reports "14 charges"... however, when the radio was shipped to me, it was dead, so it might as well be?

OK, because the initial charge cycles can take from 16 to 32 hours. If the battery was dead, the charger probably conditioned the battery once or twice, but once the battery gets on rapid charge (solid red) it really shouldn't take more than 1.5 to 2 hours to fully charge. But the conditioning cycles can take up to 2 1/2 hours, and sometimes the charger will run the conditioning a couple of times if the algorithm calls for it.

i'm off of work tomorrow, and i'll be leaving it on the charger all day to see what it takes.. is there any harm to leave it on the charger with the "green" light on for extended times?

Not with Impres. With legacy chargers, yes.

If you drop an impress battery in, and see the orange light, and wish to just rapid charge the battery, simply remove the battery, wait 3-4 seconds, and put the battery back in. The battery will go to red.
If you wish to force a re-condition, remove the battery after you insert it in to the charger and see the LED light up red. Wait 3-4 seconds, and place the same battery back in to charge. It will go yellow, and will be in a recondition cycle.
I've left a impress battery in a charger with the radio on, and after a while, I've noticed it will charge and cycle the battery when needed. One amusing thing I noticed is that this also ups the charge count dramatically on the battery. I think one of them is at like 234 charges or something nutty like that.
Now, an older radio sits in it with a crappy battery on. Soon, the console system will be rigged up, and I won't have to use that anymore.

Not with an Impres charger.

i am finally convinced that IMPRES is god... lol.. took your advice, and finished doing my cps programming and did a force conditioning... it took a bit, but when i woke up, it was fully charged... and above 100% capacity, by alot too, maybe as much as 500mah over or so..
next question... my home charger is v3.4.. my work charger is v3.0 is it bad to interchange impres chargers like that?

3.4 was bought in with the release of the XTS2500 impress batteries.
So 3.0 wont work properly.
Get your charger upgraded to 3.4
