Well I was wondering what the general consensus is. I have a 1550xls right now and was thinking about getting an XTS3000 model 2.Which is the better unit? I really don't need digital ,however the sound on them is different. So give me some opinions give me the pros and cons on switching up to an XTS.

The HT1550XLS has absolutely terrible audio, always has, and always will. It has the same circuitry as the early HT1250s.

By switching up to an XTS you will be losing FPP and LTR trunking. Not sure if that's a big deal. The XTS will hold more channels (255 to 160) and it's built to take much more of a beating than the 1550.

You also lose QCII signaling, voice storage, and MDC Emergency decode, not to mention the alarm clock. :)

if you don't need digital or more than 160 channels stick with the 1550, it does more right out of the box. if you don't like the sound make up a speaker mic and use the head unit off of a jedi series and it sounds alot better.
