Out of sheer curiosity, I have an XTS3000 that has been programmed with CPS 4.01.02 (the actual radio details are below), seeing as how the latest Astro software i have access to is rather old (with out checking the computer i think its RSS 9.03...), can I read the radio in using the Lab, and then "clone" an older codeplug into the radio to be able to read and write it in RSS?

XTS3000 Details:
Model: H09RDF9PW7BN
Firmware Ver: R07.06.01
DSP Ver: N07.03.19
Flash: 500008-000000-1

Short answer... No.
Longer answer. Astro lab/depot 3.04 will not read that radio and unpack the codeplug, it does not know what IMBE is and cannot handle an IMBE codeplug. If you use astro lab to read and then write to it you will probably get a fail 01/92. MTSX Lab 2.00.01 will do the same. MTSX Lab 3.00.? will read and write it without corrupting the radio, but will not get around the codeplug too new. Your best bet I think would be to find a codeplug that has the same model and flashcode as yours that you rss can read and use your regular rss to clone it in. Its been a long day, but I think most of that is right, if not I'm sure someone will correct me.

So RSS 9.03 is IMBE compatible? Thats good to know. On that note, I'm probably gonna have to find a proper codeplug then...

Yes, 9.03 should be IMBE compatible. Not sure where it starts, but should be well before that version.
