Hey guys. I'm wondering what the highest possible capacity is that you can get for the Jedi (HT1000) series and for the Astro Saber series. I've seen 4000+mAh for the XTS, but I've never seen anything that high for these radios. Size isn't a concern. If anyone has part numbers, that would be awesome. I'd rather they be Motorola, but any brand will do, so long as they aren't W&W.

Well I do prefer OEM, or Multiplier (Multiplier has been sold to some French company that makes cheap A/M batteries, I hope Multiplier can maintain the quality they now how) BatteryZone's customer service has been real good for me.

I see you don't like W&W, they sold me a charger (I did have the OEM, but I wanted the dual cup charger for two radios) for an Icom radio and the charge leads were wired backwards. The replacement they sent me died when I inserted the radio to charge (just like the first one), so I opened it up and discovered the problem. The chargers (for the W2A) were a new product at the time. When I called them, the old lady with the German accent told me "they had sold others with no problems", and I MUST have switched the wires myself! Well that was BS, I know of one other ham who had the same problem with the same battery cup. They did replace the charger base, and the new cup was wired correctly, and you could see where they had re-done the wiring. This was over 15 years ago, and I still stay FAR away from W&W if I can thanks to the accusation that I messed up the charger on my own.

I don't want to hijack Bellersley's thread into an
anti-W&W rant, but the following might be of interest
to some of you:

Two or three years ago I got one of W&W's new
single chargers with the instant-change cup. The green
LED never would come on, although the unit charged
okay. I finally got around to asking them about this
and they promised that "Peter" would be in touch via
e-mail. I waited but no message, so I wrote again,
and they promised an e-mail again, but -- again --
nothing. AFAIC their factory service stinks, and
the fact that a person would suggest to a customer
that the fault must be his is intolerable. There are too
many other, better, people out there to do business
with instead of suffering through W&W's ineptness.

BZ has a 3000maHr NiMh battery for the Saber.

Watch your charger on the high capacity batteries. Some can get fried!
