I have a CDM1250 VHF I use at my work bench .Today when using it to test another radio ,it gave a pop in the speaker and the light goes out on the LCD and stops transmiting as soon as it does this. It only does this on both MURS channels in the radio and not on any of the business channels on the radio. It also sounds like a portable when the battery is going dead when this happens also. It finally stop doing this but do you this going bad? IT is a firmware version 5.00.00 .

When you say it sounds like a portable when the battery is too low, do you mean that it's rebooting and producing a powerup self test beep(s)? If it is, have you checked your power supply that's powering the CDM under load?

It sounds to me like the low voltage cutback, sometimes they will do a double beep when the battery voltage is low, maybe your power supply can't handle it, or maybe the rf from the radio is getting into your power supply and causing its voltage to go low?

I thought that it may be the power supply. It has been working fine but its old and was removed from a site that had a GM300 base radio. The beeps are like a low battery tone on a portable so that makes sence. It also had a load from an MTVA that was charging my MT2000. Thanks I will load test it and hope thats all it is.
