I have run across several VHF MT2000's that RSS states the firmware needs to be upgraded in order to program narrow 12.5 kHz channels. One radio in question is version R02.04.
I located a related topic also: http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.p ... 0+firmware
I have questions about this:
1) Has anyone had their MT2000 upgraded to 12.5, and what was the cost?
2) Can the radio be forced to do 12.5 similar to the Astro series?
3) What is the difference between the MTS and the MT series?
4) If what I need are controller boards, are they easy to find on the “market” (i.e. batboard sale page, or eBay)?
I don’t want to be given the BIG /\/\ shaft and pay over $200.00 for an upgrade that the radio should have already had, or been able to do out of the box. This makes me see RED!
Thanks for any help!

- What radios do you own?: XTS2500, XTS5000, and MTS2000
Re: MT2000 Firmware
problem is the MT2000 is a "closed" controller meaning it's firmware is not flash upgradeable, it is masked ROM programmed at the factory. You would have to either have the firmware chip replaced (if its even available) and this requires SMT rework station, or replace the controller, which would run you around 300 or so last I checked. In other words, considering the cost of new radios, it is not worth it.

Understood. Thank you very much for your answer, and your time. They'll have to upgrade. -Daniel
