Anybody deal with Sid lately ? His website hasn't worked for over a week and he has nothing listed on EBay.

I bought some battteries off him last April... Talked to him on the Phone...

There were some rumors that he sold the business... but that was before I bought the batteries..

They are not rumors, he sold out. I am told it was bought by GTS Radio, and I'm sure they were only interested in the customer list.

I don't know where I'm going to go for 500MHz P110's now LOL

escomm is correct! Sid sold the place.. The web-site is up for sale, and his ebay account is zero... He had some good items over the years when I worked the Tempe/Phoenix area. Prices were good too. (but then I'm going back to appx: 1996) + or - some....

Thanks guys, I did business with Sid within the last year so I guess his closing is fairly recent. He seemed to have unique access
to obtain discontinued and NOS items.

The days of the used two-way radio dealers seem to be ending. Who is left? CW Wolfe in Montana and a couple of the ones in the back pages of MRT Magazine?

Remember the days of Spectronics, Gregory Electronics, Mann Communications, or even the more obscure ones like DuPage FM and FM Ham Sales?

I guess eBay will soon be all that's left as a source of surplus stuff...

For the most part, radios are cheap commodity items now, not like the olden days where all radios were expensive. It's not worth it now.

just talked to GTS,they have all that was left of Air-Com. Great people to do business with. NOS Spectra speakers for $15.00 was my last purchase from him. Ebay I guess is now the front runner.

10-4 I posted the link, but it was a re-direct link to ebay and (for the rules here, it was removed, I was in agreement).... But if you search for Air-Comm it will come right up. I also called them and asked if they were going to have a website off ebay! They said not now, ebay only or walk-in or mail/phone order....

Sid was a pleasure to do business with. I called last year to check on an old item (NLA for several years) and they had it.
I believe that it was Sid's daughter who was running the business or at least handling phone calls. At that time she
assured me that Sid was doing fine.

Sid had always been that classic sort of guy who was a bit cranky at first, but became quite congenial as the conversation went on.
Many years back and over a long period of time I had bought a considerable amount of used radios and accessories from Sid. He was always honest and quite up front in every way. Sid was always generous with his time and in offering assistance with questions. He was always very kind to me.

The concept or today's typical runaround web site with lots of FAQ's, late replies from clueless dunderheads and no phone contact was alien to Sid.

If Air-Comm has closed for good, that's the loss of a rare and valuable resource. I certainly hope that Sid himself is in good health and doing well.

Sid still goes in his old shop a few times a week from who I spoke to on the phone...
But its now under new management-so to say...[see above posts] you can reach the place by calling: 888-999-0589 or 602-275-4505.....The old Air-Comm link takes you to ebay, So please don't post it or the moderators will remove it as per Forum rules. I've know Sid for over 20 yrs. when I worked in the Phoenix area. Jim

Did some business with Sid years back and all the equipment was top notch. Since the price of new equipment has become more affordable, I guess I had forgotten about the used dealers like Air-Comm, Gregory, Mann, & Erie Electorics. Bought something from each of them, and again, all were great deals/radios.

Gregory Electronics
I went to that place once decades ago. Wow, what a place. Huge warehouse sized spaces with racks of gear, almost as far as the eye could see.

Thanks for reminding me.
