The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator asked me to spec out a new repeater for one of the departments. Have a couple of unique requirements & I wanted to run them past the folks here on Batlabs:

Must have 6 hours of battery at 100% duty cycle. / R56 install / Must live with another MTR station 6 MHz away from the proposed TX frequency.

So far I have:

Option X540 (UHF Bandsplit)
Option X597 (Conventional Software Operation)
Option X580 (Repeater Operation)
Option X121 (DC only power)
Option X676 (Circulator tray)
Option X265 (Preselector)
Option X180 (Cabinet)
HSN1000 / 01-85180U01 external speaker and cable kit
GMN6147 Microphone

I normally would use Newmar or Hendry (Telect) 24 volt plant as my background is telecomm, but am open to suggestions.

The other question is when using the X121 option, how does you trigger the “on battery” warning in the repeated audio?

Eltek makes a Flatpack Rectifier in 24 volt configuration. We have a number of them in -48 volt duty and they seem to hold up well.

I believe there is a connection on the backplane connector that can achieve the indicator signal for you. Ill do some looking.

Id be inclined to play with pin 8 of j3 and see if you get your tones. With the DC only supply pin 8 is simply grounded but on the AC supply its used as the AC Fail Detect line. You may have to switch the software back to AC supply to get this to work.

The connections are the same between the two supply's with the exception of pin 8 so telling the software that its an ac supply wont hurt.
