I have a Jedi Impres battery for my MTX838. Recently, when I charge the battery, when it reaches full charge I get an alternating red/green. Is the battery shot or is there a problem with the chip in the battery? The battery seems to be holding its own during the day. Thanks!

Turning your attention to the bottom of the charger, an explanation of the lights is given. Alternating green/red shows "Service Life", and an image of a battery with lower charge.

This is an indication that the battery (impres) is getting old and has a lot of charge cycles under its belt, and while it will still work, the charge isn't to full battery capacity because the cells are reaching the end of their service life.

What is the date code on your battery. IMPRES batteries used with IMPRES chargers have a 2-year warranty on them.

Impres NiCDs have a 2-year warranty. NiMH and Li-Ion batteries have an 18 months warranty.

It's +6 months to the standard warranty on legacy batteries.

The battery is more than two years old, so the warranty is out. No biggie...time for new batteries.
