Any idea if the 16 Channel VHF GP300 (P93YPC20C2AA) can be programmed for the VHF marine band channels? BTW, I was told that FCC approval is not an issue, as the radio will be used by a USCG Auxiliary member while "under orders"

http://www.batlabs.com/gp300.html if you go here you will see the model number breakdown and yes it will take the marine channels but it's only a 16ch radio and it can't hold all of them.

The GP300 and the Triton Marine portable are basically the same radio. So the answer is YES...

Thanks - The gentleman from the Auxiliary wants to program 10 regular VHF frequencies, the USCG repeater pair and the USCG liaison channels,

21A 157.050 CSQ
23A 157.150 CSQ
81A 157.075 CSQ
82A 157.125 CSQ
83A 157.175 CSQ

BTW, I have a pair of the Triton Radios (one off-white, one black). Even today they have better audio then the other consumer grade stuff on the market.

I believe it to be imprudent (and possibly contrary to the rules) to have any radio in the maritime mobile service that is not capable of (at the least) channels 16 and 13. In addition, I'd put in channels 6 and 12, which are often used as alternatives to 22A for SAR missions.
