Radio has been inhibited

I get this error reading several Spectras, from the same source.
. Radio has been inhibited
. Reprogramming will uninhibit
. Press F2 to continue
These Spectras also display FL 01/82, and no controls work.
So, how do they get inhibited they are conventional VHF radios?

Just a guess.....maybe via an MDC1200 packet?

FL 01/82 is a codeplug checksum error. They likely aren't inhibited, the software just interprets the corrupted codeplug that way. Normally, inhibiting the radios does not produce any sort of error code onscreen.

Todd,
Thanks, that makes some sense. When I read the codeplug from the Spectra then look at the Mode screen, the RSS locks up and nothing is displayed in the Mode screen.
The info in the F2 and F3 screens seems to be intact tho.
In a few cases I was able to clone an existing codeplug from a different radio, and the inhibited radio seems to work OK.

good evening all, i have this same problem with a XTS3000 uhf low split, i reprogrammed it for astro digital on simplex conventional as we do not use trunk or repeaters and i got a Fail 01/82 and when i try to read the radio it wont unpack the codeplug , i have a few saved codeplugs and it wont program any of these in to it it says the radio is inhibited!! its realy annoying me as the radio worked fine just before we changed it . im prety sure we are using cps version 4.01.04. anyone have any ideas? thanks in advance.

I had several XTS 5000's that came up with 01/82 when trying to reprogram some new features into them. After a long search process I found that the groung wire in the OEM 4106a cable was bad and replaced the cable. It took more than once to reload the old saved codeplugs back into the radios to remove the 01/82 fail. One of the radios took 5 times to do it but it finally loaded.

cheers for the reply mate, and yes ive encounterd the 82 error before but never with the inhibited part....so after ten or so tries to reprogram the radio it worked, this time because of the inhibited part its proving to be a real bugger. cheers
