This is a pretty common problem. The radio has been programmed with a newer version of the RSS. Motorola will still sell you the RSS that you are asking about.

http://businessonline.motorola.com/Apply for a MOL account. Call MOL business support and ask them to add "software support." You can then download and sign the required legal paperwork. They should then give you account access to be able to purchase RSS and CPS.

You then want to order RVN4176, I am not sure of the letter revision of the last available update to this, but I know I have 6.07 & 6.08 loaded on one of the programming laptops there was a slight difference between the two and I can't remember what. You want to leave the revison off anyway. They will send you the latest and greatest. This will solve your probelm.

Dear Scott

Can I go down to my local Motorola services center and have the blank the radio using MTSX lab, and then program with my current RSS 6.00.00 software?

Most likely the answer to that question would be NO!!! There are ways around everything, but the LAB software is just not handed out to Motorola Dealers. This is something that was for internal use only at the DEPOT that has leaked outside fo where Motorola wanted it to be. Generally when the Depot has a radio, the radio will then have to be programmed with the latest version of software. If nothing is wrong with your radio, no reason to send it to the depot anyway. The RSS from Motorola would be cheaper to purchase than a trip to the DEPOT anyway.

Why would Motorola want to do that for someone when they could sell them the software. Another question they woul ask is why would you need it reverted to be able to be programmed with older software. Most likely if your RSS was through legitimate channels you would have recieved or been able to download the latest updates via MOL.

You may want to see if you can find someone to program this unit for you. Your local MSS can certainly do it along with many smaller radio shops.
