Which brings up an interesting question.. If you are using a XTS 5000 to monitor a analog emergency services channel AND if that channel is cross patched into the new P25 system, can your radio still be bricked (Inhibited) by the system administrator??

if the patch is trunked , no problem

The P-25 system is trunked, but the analog is not so???

So long as your radio is monitoring a control channel, and that control channel spits out an inhibit command with your radio's Radio ID, it's toast.

Ok so what you are saying is if you are monitoring the P-25 control channel (inhibit time) Ha Ha ...But if you are monitoring a analog channel only cross patched its fairly safe??

Well, you aren't 100% safe as there is always a risk. But if you are scanning between conventional and trunked, there is a greater chance of your radio not seeing the inhibit OSW. I wouldn't risk an expensive radio like a 5k on that chance though.

Which brings me to my last question: Can a inhibit signal be sent through an analog channel???

Via MDC signalling it can.

Somebody can probably correct me if I'm wrong, but inhibiting via MDC can be disabled in the radio, can it not?

I have seen a check box for that before, you are probably right.

Also, you have to setup MDC signaling for the channel to begin with. If it's a simulcast on an analog/conventional channel, then there's no need to put MDC on, and really no need to monitor the P25 talkgroup...
