I have a fiberglass omni antenna on order from Tessco that is way late on delivery. When pressed, my account rep sent me the following:

Long lead times with RFS omni fiberglass antennas. RFS stopped manufacturing these antennas in Connecticut and contracted out the manufacturing about 2 years ago. Simply put, their chosen supplier has had trouble keeping up with demand and as a result quality began to suffer. Many antennas not passing QA upon arrival at RFS; this added to the back log.

Anyone else having problems with RFS Delivery time? It's great that they are not allowing defective product into the field with their name on it, but this delay is too much.

PS - The team at Tessco jumps through hoops and has delivered on everything else, so I'm certain the problem is not there.

This would explain why the last few I've gotten in had trash brackets! The nut and washers would just bind up and snap off, and some had no threads on the u bolts, just a bent piece of metal.

They probably contracted out the manufacturing to Mexico, and laid off years of experience in the process. That way they can throw the waste out in the ditch out back, and not worry about fines. The old stationmasters are some of the best antennas out there. I have some that have been on the air long before my time, and still work great. Perhaps I will have to be wary of ordering them now.

Andrew did the same thing when they aquired Decibel a few years ago, now, it takes FOREVER to get items that arent in stock, and many items they just cancelled.

I agree they are doing the right thing by keeping the QC in check, but shame on these corporations for sending engineering and manufacturing jobs out of the county!
