Astro programing
Can anyone advise on the forward and backwards compatability of the ASTRO programs .(AS3)
How important is it to use such software that may be too new or too old for the given model.
I am getting "protocol conflicst " when trying to program.(being new to ASTRO does one start programing straight off the idle radio or is there a "program mode "that I am not aware of ??
Regards
Brad

If you are trying to do what I think you are doing, astro lab will not work well it was designed for vselp radios and not later IMBE. Mtsx lab will work.
For normal programming you should not be using lab.

I was not confuse d. I assumed you were trying to put a different s-record in your existing radio. I guess not.
You have a radio that has bene programmed with a later version of CPS/RSS and can;t program it because of that reason. You need a later revision of CPS/RSS for the Astro Saber, not lab to be able to program your radio. This has been discussed here many times before. Once your radio is programmed with a newer version of RSS/CPS it can not be programmed with a older revision anymore. You can obtain the new CPS/RSS legally by purchasing it through Motorola and this will solve your issues. They will send you the latest revision.

Ok I am awaiting for the software to program these two astro saber 3's.
Somewhere I read a chat using the same CPS to read astro and HT1250---???? Is this possible , or does one have to have the astro saber dedicated software.
I am eager to get these radios up and going to be the "first "in the country on this type of digital mode.

No, Astro Saber RSS/CPS is the only software that can program the Astro Saber. FYI once you have programmed the radio with a newer version, you can not use a older version on the radio.
Also, remember as these are currently they are Digital VSELP Radios they are not IMBE and will not recieve IMBE digital, the new standard. These radios will talk back to each other in VSELP and analog modes fine with no issues.

Hope you have two radios - otherwise, who are you going to talk to?
