Just aquired a Saber III VHF. Trying to decode the model number and not having much luck. Can someone help? the Model number is - H99QX + 063H. The factory ID is - H43QXK7139CN. I decoded the Factory ID but can't find anything for the model.

sounds like a scan capable, secure capable VHF Saber III. To know the bandsplit, you'll either have to read it in RSS or open the radios and look at the module numbers. the model number won't tell you the specifics unfortunately.

A little secret ive found is if the original label is on the back and it has a USGE ID # its most likley a Low split radio..

H43 - High power VHF
QXK - Secure capable with full keypad
7139 - standard U.S. channel spacing.

As stated by an earlier post, exact range split requires reading the radio with RSS or looking at module part numbers.

Thanks all. I know it has freqs programmed between 150-159 and that is what I need. I would still like to know what the model number (as listed on the radio) of H99QX + 063H means.

I hope to have a programming cable built today so I can read it in RSS.

PS.. I also got a mint VHF Astro Saber with just about all the bells & whistles for $100. This one I will keep

jban, I don't know why they did this, but Motorola has swapped places with the model and ID numbers on the tags of several different radio models, including the Saber, Syntor, and, IIRC, Spectra series radios, among others. Whats listed as the ID number is actually the model number. AFAIK, you won't find a "breakdown" for the ID number, which is listed as the model number on the tag.
