Maybe you guys can point me in the right direction of what may be the problem with my K split MTS. Receive wise it's perfect but when it comes to Tx I get a pretty nice 80hz hum in the background. You can still here me talking but it's pretty prominent. I'll try to post up a sampling.
I tried looking around on the forum for something similar. If I didn't look enough I apologize ahead of time.

Could it be 79.7 Hz? Or 82.5? Maybe the PL is set for too much deviation.

I'll take a look at the codeplug again. I have tried using the radio on several different frequencies and several different pls with no avail so maybe it might be something i'm overlooking. I also was fooling around I found that it went away when I was using DTMF the sound was very minimal (but i couldn't really tell for sure).

Here's a snip of what it sounds like on the other end. I'm pretty clueless at this point. Sometimes it's intermittent but for the most part it's constant. I'm guessing it's just not tuned right or it's a bad board. (I also tried it w/o PL it decreases some but it's still there)

Wow, that's obnoxious! There's a higher frequency component too. My guess is that's digital noise leaking in somewhere that should be shielded or filtered. Maybe there's a bad connection or capacitor (or two or three).
I had a GTX portable once that did something similar, but I think it was in the receive audio. I swapped the logic board into another radio trying to track it down and both radios worked fine. So I swapped it back and the problem reappeared. Apparently the other RF board was less susceptable to the noise coming from the logic board. Only when the noisy logic board and the susceptable RF board were paired up did the problem manifest itself.

Thanks for the help. Once I get a hold of another board maybe I can fool around with it. Hopefully I can take it to someone with the right equipment just to double check that it's aligned. If anyone else has any ideas or fixes to the problem the help would be appreciated. Thanks!
