It's a good deal if your the seller.
Really, if you need a legit 800 for a system, that is probably par with what else is on the market.

Ahhhhh....SpectraGod is right on the money on this one.....I ignored the fact we were looking at a 800mhz unit. Yes, a legit 800 unit that can be put on a system legitimately is worth close to that.....
Really a model 2 is still worth close to that. You just don't find these Surplus very often. Most of these that have been purchased are still actively on trunked systems.

I found the company that's selling the equipment from the State of Florida's Astro system. (The state made the huge mistake of switching to a m/a-com
system. At the time the contract was awarded, it was Comm-Net that was the "inheritor" of GE's radio division. Despite the fact that Comm-Net was a
small, struggling, and UNFUNDED company, they still won the Florida contract, at the time the largest public safety radio contract in history, due to
Motorola's appalling arrogance and inflexibility in their mode of doing business. The contract was literally Motorola's to LOSE, and that's what they did....LOST it.)
Some of the equipment is undoubtedly worth a lot. Other equipment probably isn't, like a bunch of VSELP 512 KB Astro SAbers.
They do list at least one COMPLETE, STILL INSTALLED Astro site, complete with controller and everything. You could literally throw the main power
switch, power up all the equipment, and be back on the air in a little while.
I'd like to have that!

Find me one in that range! A legit one with comparable features!
1200 bucks firm offered. I don't care if that gives you a chance to make a few hundred bucks for yourself.

Hey Chris aka Elroy, do you think you can find time in your busy schedule of hunting down your next purchase & making offers on it and maybe send me the tracking number for the $1000 worth of product I paid you for on 8/23. You know, the radios I sent you a PM about last night that you read but did not reply to?

First I had to FIND the tracking number! It got lost but I did find it this morning. My filing system needs work.
Check your PMs for the details.

The Road Rangers {trucks that stop to help stranded motorists} were supposed to go on that system after FHP went to Ma Com. Guess that didn't happen. Those Astro Sabers were upgraded to IMBE years ago. The FHP used them until the end. GARY N4KVE

If you're talking about who I'm talking about, then yes, they're clean units. I've already purchased a quantity off of him at that price and I've yet to see any problems. Top notch stuff.

I just bought a radio from the seller...a very pristine Astro Saber III with the FHP codeplug still in it. I couldn't resist, for the price.
The warehouse full of double racked Quantros and several Smartzone controllers was interesting....
I got to hand-pick from among several hundred. This one was clearly a "lives on a desk" radio. Not a mark on the display window.
It was a bit flaky but I noticed that the housing nuts were a bit loose. Hey, I've seen that before. I tightened them up and all's well.
It has the SAME flashcode as another 800 ASIII I bought recently that came from a Peruvian SmartZone system. System ID 0083.
But that Peru radio is absolutely a 10. Not a mark on it. It just needed a minor repair. (Blown fuse on the RF board.)
So now I've got twins. Anyone looking for a super clean matched pair of Smartzone Omnilink Astro Sabers with DVP-XL?
