I'm looking for a reasonably good gauge power source INSIDE the Ford Crown Victoria P-73 series ( 2004 ). I know that the P-71 police series has more available power taps, but I simply need to wire up a low power (15 watt) Spectra mobile and don't want to cut through the firewall if at all possible.

This is a Spectra UHF Motorcycle model which is less depth than the midpower Spectras so it's easier to mount. It's only for a business repeater which a handheld can hit in our typical travel radius.

Ford changed things under the dash of the Crown Victoria sometime between 1998 and 2004 so the useable depth is greatly reduced.

Any thoughts welcome.

Keep in mind that this is not the best option however...depending on the wiring situation in the car, this may be a disaster waiting to happen. If you still need to get a power source from within the passenger compartment, tap into the 50a wire and make sure you fuse it appropriately for your radio. I still STRONGLY recommend you run your power from the battery direct. You can probably find a hole in a grommet to run it though.

If its a P73 its not a police pacakage

Run a 12+ to the battery

No power taps under the dash of a P73, at all. It is a straight run to the battery on the passenger side though.
