591008-4F1E00-9- Is this a whore flash or legit?? anybody??? bueller?????
Probably the only down side to a whore flashcode is you won't be seeing much support to Motorola. People have said in the past after sending to the depot they've gotten in back with a very basic flashcode (probably 100001-000000-1 if they're lucky). So, as long as you're handy with fixing problems, you most likely know what features don't work anyway, and won't have many problems with the radio, but for people that don't really know much about them, and run into trouble, and send it off, then they could be in trouble.SYNTORX71MAN wrote:Dumb or Debate question time: Is a Whoreflash OK? or should it be avoided? "Does not like flashcodes with a letter"? Huh?astrousa wrote:Mot does not like flashcodes with a letter. Most likely you send a radio with a letter in the flash you will have problems.
Trying putting the "MUTE" option in your menus and try turning it off. I dealt with an XTS3000 that had every sound enabled and unless I had that in there and used it, it would not work.kato56 wrote:Can the following behavior be attributed to a 4F1 flash on a AS3:
No beeps heard when pressing blue buttons to access menu, etc. also, no beeps pressing lower side buttons below the ptt. However, alert tones are enabled and the radio beeps on boot up, low battery chirp, unprogrammed channel beep, beeps when trying to tx on a rx only channel. Also, beeps are heard locally when pressing dtmf.
No, The whore flash was never legit, it has several options that aren't valid (such as MODAT in an IMBE radio, MODAT was for VSELP). Search the board for "Nick Deluca" (I think that's how you spell his last name). Also check out 'Nick' Radios Being Recalled . . . Yes, I actually own a evil Nick Astro Saber and I must admit that I'm very satisfied with it. The only problem was poor alignment which was taken care of. I didn't know that Nick was smart enough to create a whore flash like this. I figured that Motorola wouldn't make it that easy but I guess I was wrong.LuiePL wrote:No, The whore flash was never legit, it has several options that aren't valid (such as MODAT in an IMBE radio, MODAT was for VSELP). Well I think a lot of had to due with lab software, which was illegally obtained. So if you're a company and you make something for in house use, you want to make it as easy as possible, and I don't think Moto thought that it would get out like it did, so that was one of the biggest issues. If you read through the different articles, they didn't get him and his parter on building the radios, they got them on the software used to initialize the radios and put the flashcodes/codeplugs etc in them.ScannerDan wrote:Yes, I actually own a evil Nick Astro Saber and I must admit that I'm very satisfied with it. Incidentally it did not work only right after programming, and once the mute was turned off, and the radio was turned off and then back on it was fine.
