There can be conflicting items, items that are firmware dependent will not work without the proper firmware. With that said most of these work just fine for 99% of the users and what they actually use them for.

Buy it and enjoy!

Probably the only down side to a whore flashcode is you won't be seeing much support to Motorola. People have said in the past after sending to the depot they've gotten in back with a very basic flashcode (probably 100001-000000-1 if they're lucky). So, as long as you're handy with fixing problems, you most likely know what features don't work anyway, and won't have many problems with the radio, but for people that don't really know much about them, and run into trouble, and send it off, then they could be in trouble.

Mot does not like flashcodes with a letter. Most likely you send a radio with a letter in the flash you will have problems.

"Does not like flashcodes with a letter"? Huh?

What about Q52/Q53-enabled XTS5000s, which have an A? All a letter indicates is that the high-order bit is that multiple bits are enabled in that particular nybble.

Moto doesn't like the Whoreflash. It has nothing to do with having "a letter" in it.

Can the following behavior be attributed to a 4F1 flash on a AS3:

No beeps heard when pressing blue buttons to access menu, etc. also, no beeps pressing lower side buttons below the ptt. However, alert tones are enabled and the radio beeps on boot up, low battery chirp, unprogrammed channel beep, beeps when trying to tx on a rx only channel. Also, beeps are heard locally when pressing dtmf.

Duplicate telephone lists created for each entry. When trying to delete 2nd list, the 1st list gets deleted too.

Trying putting the "MUTE" option in your menus and try turning it off. I dealt with an XTS3000 that had every sound enabled and unless I had that in there and used it, it would not work.

Incidentally it did not work only right after programming, and once the mute was turned off, and the radio was turned off and then back on it was fine.

So was the "whore Flash" once a legitimate flash? If not who and how was it made?

No, The whore flash was never legit, it has several options that aren't valid (such as MODAT in an IMBE radio, MODAT was for VSELP). Search the board for "Nick Deluca" (I think that's how you spell his last name). Also check out 'Nick' Radios Being Recalled . . . BY MOTOROLA !

Yes, I actually own a evil Nick Astro Saber and I must admit that I'm very satisfied with it. The only problem was poor alignment which was taken care of. I didn't know that Nick was smart enough to create a whore flash like this. I figured that Motorola wouldn't make it that easy but I guess I was wrong.

Well I think a lot of had to due with lab software, which was illegally obtained. So if you're a company and you make something for in house use, you want to make it as easy as possible, and I don't think Moto thought that it would get out like it did, so that was one of the biggest issues. If you read through the different articles, they didn't get him and his parter on building the radios, they got them on the software used to initialize the radios and put the flashcodes/codeplugs etc in them.

Luie,
On my 4F1E AS3, I added "Mute" to the menu as a 7th item, however after writing back to the radio, "Mute" is not showing up. I even tried to delete all but 2 menu items "Zone" and "Mute", and the "Mute" still does not show. Btw, this is for conventional personalities.

Thanks
