So I Just got off of the phone with Motorola wanting a price quote -

THE HT SERIES CPS IS APPARENTLY RESTRICTED TO /\/\ RESELLERS ONLY! NORMAL CUSTOMERS WILL BE DENIED ACCESS! :o

is this for real? I thought I could just buy it and be done with it..... :-?

Yes, they can pick and choose who they decide to sell rss and cps to. They tend to be more restrictive on lower tier radios to protect dealer areas.

Welcome to the world of Motorola.

Uh huh, that particular CPS is difficult for end users to get, and has been so for nearly 10 years now...

There are ways around this, the best bet is to get yourself a parts account. You will need a sales tax certificate and other supporting documentation, but it's doable.

And even after that you still get a "restricted software license" form to fill out that asks for, among other things, the serial numbers of radios you own, who you bought them from, how many you have, and what your purpose for having them is. Just a guess, but I don't think "i bought a couple of ht750s from ebay" is going to cut it.
