XTS5000 Volume

Post by WCHija »

I noticed that when I put my new commander II mic on my 5k teh volume seems low compared to a regular mic. Is there an adjustment for that?

Not being sarcastic here, really. Have you tried pushing the + volume button multiple times? It will gradually increase the volume. Also, have the volume knob on the radio up around the middle setting.

I used to think it was only an up one level and down one level sort of thing with the volume buttons on an XTS5K until I one day was playing around and was pleasantly surprised.
Vote for Pedro.

I emailed Bill about this, but I figured the info would be useful to everyone else so I am copy/pasting it here as well.

Cliffsnotes: In order to maintain compliance with various OSHA regulations, Motorola recently redesigned just about every external audio accessory they carry.
I am on the phone with Motorola now, apparently they had to redesign just about every headset they carry because of some OSHA regulations.

Hopefully I'll find out if there's an adjustment that can be made via the CPS.

I take it that the volume control on both the mic and the radio do not produce acceptable audio in the earpiece?
OK, it's the OSHA thing. I have the same earpiece and mic you do and I just tested it out, the audio is a bit lower than I remember from the old style. The radio's volume control and the mic's volume control both affect the audio level, so the best bet is to turn the radio up all the way and the mic up all the way. No audio output adjustments via CPS, only input.

Post-sales told me both the Commander and the earpiece were victims of the redesign to maintain compliance.

If you use a Commander mic with any regularity, you should enable "lock radio controls with commander mic" option in the CPS.
