Hello all,

I just got my XTS3000 this morning. After I charged the battery and powered it on, it successfully completed the self test. After I went into the service mode this is what I got on my screen:

R05.60.00
DSPN06.05.02
EMC R02.12
KG1 DES-XL
KG2 DES0-OFB
HO9RDF9PW7BN
620XXXXXXX
140001-000000-3

*Per http://www.radioreference.com:
>Options Installed on this Flashcode:
>
>140001-000000-3
>
>Q806/G806 IMBE / APCO-25 Digital Operation
>H868/W969 Multikey Operation
>H35/G48 Conventional Operation

Based on this information, I can tell that I have an older host and that my radio has encryption on it. However, what does the "EMC" mean? What is "Multikey Operation"? Also explain the KG1 and KG2. Is there anything else about this radio that I should know?

Thanks in advance!

KG1 and KG2 are your two different flavors of encryption. You have DEX-XL and DES-OFB.

Mulitkey is the ability to have more than one key in the radio, ie have different encryption keys for different channels if needed. That is the quick and dirty explanation on these.

The EMC is the revision on ther encryption module.

Decoding Flashcode: 140001-000000-3

Q806 ASTRO Digital Operation
H869 Hardware Multikey Encryption
H35 Conventional Systems Operation

[fixed the URL - akardam]

This is a much better and actually up to date flash decoder. No difference this time, but certainly better than whats still over at RR.

if you plan on using this radio in digatal mode, it might not hurt to upgrade the firmware.
the latest out for the xts3000 it host 7.71.00 and dsp 8.03.03. the other thing i might ask(someone smarter than me)is if you upgrade the firmware will it affect the encryption operation with 2.12 emc firmware.

just my $0.02
