I was playing around with Uni-Trunker and the system I was listening to came up with 9 hits on 65536 talk group. I think the max is 65535. Any clues reference this? Program error?

I use UniTrunker, too, and have the same problem occasionally. I also get other pretty random talkgroup IDs that I know don't exist. It probably just gets mixed up from time to time; I would say that it's a signal quality issue, but the systems that I listen to are quite strong. I'm guessing the decoder just gags every so often.

I think the highest possible talkgroup in a Motorola system is FFF (804095 in Motorola decimal format), which would translate to Uniden code 65520.

I did get one response, they stated that the 65536 ID was a system identifier. Although this ID is transmited on several freq's on the system. Since no audio is ever heard from the transmissions like and morse code ID I wonder if these are some kind of special digital ID for the system. It is interesting though.

"FFF" is not a valid talkgroup on a Type II system. You can enter "001" to "FFE". FFF is reserved for system-wide announcements, IIRC.

Whoever told you that is an idiot. You cannot represent 65536 with 16 bits, which is all the space allocated for a talkgroup plus status bit. It must be a bug with Unitrunker.

What system were you running it on? You might want to try other programs as well to see what they report. There's Trunker, WinTrunker, Trunk88 and I think a couple of other ones.

Talkgroup 65535 is a System Wide "ALL CALL" Talkgroup. 65535 unmutes to any and all Talkgroup IDs.
Talkgroup "0" is a System Wide"RECEIVE ONLY" talkgroup and receives "ALL- CALL" transmissions sent on the 65535.Talk group "0" also receives select call transmissions sent to the user's particular ASTRO Individual ID. This is only possible when the RX UNMUTE Rule of a channel/personality that has this TALKGROUP ID selected is set to Selective Squelch.
Also ASTRO 25 Talkgroups are from 00001 to 65535. Or 0000 to FFFF
Yes there might be something like a glitch with the UNI-TRUNKER that I will have to check out.

On the motorola 3600 systems I monitor, the CW ID on the Voice channel is always IDed as talkgroup # 65536.

Yes I saw that this morning. The 65536 ID came up then approx. 2 sec's later the CW ID. This happened several times this morning. That's why the post stated unusual talkgroup, although I think it only comes up that way on the logger.

Talkgroup 65536 denotes the BSI or CW ID. It isn't a real talkgroup. That value was chosen because it would not conflict with valid group IDs.
