Hello all,

In the service mode, I noticed that by pressing the emergency button(on XTS 3000) that the radio shows the following:

"1 CSQ" and by pressing side-button 2 it shows "2 CSQ", and pressing the side-button again "3 CSQ", and so forth all the way to "7 CSQ" then it goes back to "1 CSQ"

It Does the following with these as well:

"1 TPL" - "7 TPL"
"1 S/F" - "7 S/F"
"1 AST" - "7 AST"
"1 USQ" - "7 USQ"

What do these letters(CSQ, TPL, S/F, AST, USQ) stand for?? I also noticed that you can transmit on any of these "channels". Any and ALL information is appreciated!!!

I noticed this as well when checking the service mode out on our MTS2000s. IIRC they are test frequencies to see if the transmitter needs re-alignment. In other words someone would use a freq counter or other tester and see if the values recorded match what they are suppose to be. I used my freq counter and incrementing the number changed the frequency.

The information you seek is listed in the service manual for that radio. Those frequencies, used in concert with a service monitor allow you to verify the alignment of the radio.

I have very little information, but I've noticed the same. I believe the display briefly says "RF TEST," validating what others have said about this mode. I don't know anything about servicing them, but I presume...

CSQ = Carrier SQuelch (e.g., analog FM audio, no CTCSS)
TPL = Tone PL (?) - analog FM with CTCSS?
AST = ASTRO mode

No idea on S/F or USQ... The battery on my AS3 is flat right now so I can't verify it, but I'm not too sure I ever saw a USQ, and I'm almost positive I never saw S/F.

This is just a distant memory, but playing with it in the F1 - Service menu of RSS, it may have displayed (in RSS) the corresponding frequencies.

Some radios, like the Waris line, will have options for HSS and DTMF.
