Is there a way to program a standard spectra on a mode by mode for receive only so I can scan them on my spectra that has a better front end.

There is a TX Inhibit option in the Spectra RSS, even for trunking. So yes, you can program the Spectra as a receive only radio.

You never did provide the answer to the use of this radio on a trunking system. So we have to figure
that is where your going to use this radio.

Don't bet on it. The truth of this issue is that unless you go into the radio and pull the DC feed from the
TX exciter stages, the radio can and will still transmit under certain trunking conditions. The trunking system
can issue a command for all radios on the system to affiliate. If this command is sent, even a radio that
has been set to TX disable will send out it's programmed ID and talkgroup info when requested.

In that case, just put in a "b" for blank in the transmit frequency space and you have a receive only channel.

Type "blank" into the TX frequency on each mode you want as monitor only.

When reading the radio, modes that are monitor/RX only will display 'blank' in the TX frequency space.
