I was looking at working on a small project and wanted to know how these plug and play cables work for the gm300,M1225 to make the a duplux repeater. Now My biggest question do I need to buy a dupluxer for the radios or will it work because I am using two radios.

FYI-This is not for a system that will be talked on often. Its just a small project I said I would work on and there arent much funds for the project

At the most basic level, the cables connect the audio and carrier detect (aka COR- Carrier Operated Relay) outputs of the receive radio to the audio and Push to Talk (PTT) inputs of the transmit radio. Better interfaces include a hang-time delay, and protection against a failed receive radio locking the transmit radio in transmit mode indefinitely. Advanced interfaces can add an almost infinite variety of additional features including CWID, multiple tone/user support, alarm / condition reporting, phone interconnect, etc.

If you want to run both radios off of one antenna you will need a duplexer to keep the tranmitter from desensitizing (or just blowing up) the receive radio. Alternately, you can use two separate antennas, must make certain that you engineer the installation so that it provides adequate isolation between them.
