I give up on the searches. I know I have read about a device someplace, but can't seem to find it.
What I am looking for is a device to go on the 12 volt feed for some equipment to keep it alive during
the time the engine is cranking. The voltage goes too low right now and causes it to reset. Need it to carry
about 5 amps max at the 12 volt level.

What we use it a "Start Guard". We buy them from Tessco. Work great for radios and laptops in public safety vehicles.
Think same company that makes the charge guard make the start guard.

Jim:
They nailed it....here in Southern CA (Orange County and elsewhere) the NewMar Nav-Pacs have become a standard in local fire equipment rigs to provide a power buffer when starting them up. Everything from battalion chief SUV's to ladder trucks to keep the MDC's up and prevent spikes and crashing.
The specs on the NewMar page seem to cover what you are looking for.
Good luck.
