Problem with Saber Convertacom...

Hi all,

My Saber Convertatcom was working great, then last week it lost its receive ability unless im right on top of a signal or repeater. It was a sudden loss, not something that occured over time.

The Saber itself works fine out of the convertacom so I know its not the radio. I checked my antenna and coax which also works fine with another radio. The mic, speaker, volume controls, radio controls etc..work fine on the unit..it just won't receive properly. I removed the cover of the unit and made sure the coax wire was still connected properly to the mini UHF end internally and it looks fine. It will still TX but doesn't RX so I don't know if I am hitting a repeater or not.

Any ideas as to what the problem might be?

Thanks for looking.

are you running it through an amp or directly to an antenna?

Directly to the antenna.

do you have another radio to try? It may be in the saber itself. There is an internal zeiner diode that is like an antenna relay that tells the radio to use an external antenna when one is attached either a SVA or a PS Mic.

hahaha....so the deal was the squelch was set too high on the radio. It had defaulted to 8 because the an older codeplug was loaded into it and the guy forgot to adjust the squelch for me...

Thanks for the help 809.....you have helped me in the past as well and I appreciate it.
