MTS2000 UHF selectivity/intermod problems? Please help

Hello
I recently got a UHF MTS2000 Model 1 (H01RDD9PW1BN) with the intent of using it on 440 mHz ham as well as GMRS. I'm having a lot of trouble with the radio breaking squelch in the presence of signal on any adjacent channel. The guy I bought the radio from programmed in a few test channels for me so I could evaluate the radio when I first got it, and it exhibited this problem then. The radio would break squelch in the presence of other RF sources, like putting within a few feet of my wireless router.
Looking over the programming details, the squelch fine tune had been set to '0' on all the conventional personalities, so I'd though I'd found the culprit then. However, adjusting the fine squelch up to the max of '31' in the CPS has not made much discernable difference. Adjusting it to about 15-20 keeps it from opening up when it's within a few feet of my router, etc, but the adjacent channel interference remains. None of my Saber's exhibit this problem. This is my first experience programming a Jedi series, so please bear with my newb-ness. Is the receiver out of alignment? How can I fix the selectivity? Thanks.
