Flashport Upgrade Question????

Post by themedic66 »

I have a buddy who has an AS3 Flashcode: 000001-002000-5 which translates to:

H35 Conventional Systems Operation
Q241 Analog Only Operation
*according to http://www.Akardam.net

Now from what I have been told(CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG), If he sends that radio into the depot with the flashcode above for a "flate-rate repair", moto will upgrade the firmware and reflash it right?? Now since this radio is currently analog only, will the flashcode be upgraded to include Astro/Apco Digital Operation? BAsically, will the radio come back with just the host and DSP upgraded but still "analog only", or will it come back with everything upgraded and now flashed for ASTRO Digital Operation?? - OR - Should he pay to have the radio reflashed for H14 Enhanced Digital ID Display and then will moto add digital in that flash while upgrading the firmware, or will it come back with everything but still analog only??

Thanks in advance!

If you send it in with an analog only flash, it will come back with an analog only flash... They will upgrade the firmware to the latest analog firmware, which is around AP 03.xx.xx something... Just had an analog only AS3 come back from the depot in August with a new 1 meg vocon and that revision..

They are not automatically going to just "add" Astro digital operation to your radio's flash for free..

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.
