Converting a Q-Split W-4 to an R-Split?

Post by 4n6inv »

I have purchased a number of the Q-Split Astro Spectras on the 403-430 band. I like the W-4 heads on a consolette, but can't seem to find any R-Split S-Records or codeplugs to adapt the W-4 heads to the Public Safety / Ham band of 450-470 or 146-174 for that matter, and need both. I've been able to "convince" the vocons to do the right thing in an older analog Spectra RF (if you know what I mean), but not with a W-4 head, due to the lack of a proper S-record or codeplug. ANY help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Yes; I know; "Just switch to a W-5 or W-7, LOL!"; but I like the W-4 on the consolette, and the 5's and 7's are scarce as hens teeth at any semblence of a reasonable price.

Thanks!

Jim
