We recently sent an M1225-ls into the depot for repair...they replaced it with a CDM1550-ls+ for the flat rate! Not a bad deal at all.

Lucky you!

We sent in an RKR1225 in August, got most of it back in October and now we're waiting for our control head and ribbon cable.

was this a mistake and did they send your 1225 to somebody that's now missing a 1550?

Still shows as supported until Dec 31/07, according to the cancellation/support matrix on MOL.

I do not believe this was a mistake, as it was dealt with at the Toronto depot, which hasn't been affected by the changes at the Mexirola depot...in other words they generally know what they are doing. I believe they are likely having trouble sourcing repair components for the M1225, so they are pretty well obligated to provide a current model replacement at the flat rate, since it's still officially supported.

They are on the best effort list, and apparently we see now what their best effort was.... !

A few weeks ago we sent in a MT2000 to the depot for a bad display FSB, and open the box and we got a HT750 4CH back. I called and told Mother M what had happed, and while the guy was entering the info in the case, I asked him are all the radios repaired state side, or sent to Mexico? He responded with Well they goto El Paso, and Mexico is really close to El Paso, then gave me the case # Then I got a call from MexiMoto Depot Tech Juan and he asked for the S/N to the Ht750 said that radio was not in there system. and told me they can not find our MT2000. And they have to look into this, and they might replace our MIA radio. Whats the direct replacement for the MT2000?

That would so suck. When I asked What radio might we get if you can not find the MT2000? They said maybe a PR1500, That will not work for us we have 113 Channels in our radios now and need the display.

I've spoken to Juan before, assuming it was the same Juan. Juan tried to give me a HUGE dose of it about an Astro Spectra that I sent in to have flat rated after I found too many things wrong with it to make it economical for my customer (ME) to repair. Juan told me that since I had worked on it before I sent it to them, they would not flat rate it. I explained to Juan that I have been a Motorola NSO since 1992, and what in the hell did he expect an authorized repair center to do? Pay them to do all of my work? I asked to speak to his supervisor. He said that she wasn't available. I asked for her name and phone number. He gave me her name, but said I'd have to keep calling HIM back to try to reach her, because he didn't know her phone number. I said: "Hey; Juan; when you call in sick, or late to work; what number do you call to speak to your supervisor?" Looong Pause. Juan put me through to her voice mail. Surprisingly, she called back in about 45 minutes and solved the problem, and agreed to flat rate it. I agreed to send any defective chips that I had removed from the boards during troubleshooting, to prove that it hadn't been deliberately destroyed. Fair enough. Dealing with MexiMoto requires a lot of patience and tennacity to get past the "Juans" down there.

all the "Juans" down there are encouraging me to replace my fleet with KENWOOD. I can DRIVE to their communications division's HQ, it's about 45 minutes away in Gwinnett county (which still has a majority of English speaking citizens, though that is rapidly changing). I cringe I just sent a VHF MTS2000 and an 800 MTS for the bad display TSB...now if I get back XTS5000's or even 2500's I'm not going to complain, but Juan might put a couple of XTN's in there knowing my luck...we will see. Can no longer pull up the radios being checked in on my MOL account...I guess they took this feature away.

I was able to track the progress on MOL, I had to drop the last number off the S/N for it to show up. But that does not help, It said my MT2000 was repaired and shipped, but it morphed in to a HT750 when FEDEX got it HAHAH.

That is just sooo funny. Man things down there seem to be getting worse and worse not better. I've had a few lost radio horror stories from Juarez but nothing like these.

As a MSS or authorized repair center you have the right to really screw up the board. However, you should always put the parts back on the radio as certain missing parts can qualify as physical damage. I remember one time they tried to hit us with extreme flat rate cause a trace was pulled on a CT250. I laughed my butt off and said what are you talking about it's a design flaw now replace the board and send me the radio back.

I'm thinking maybe we should all start sending our radios to the repair center in Toronto, anyone else agree. LOL

Just be grateful guy's that you don't have to send your United Kingdom radios to their Germany depot, because i've sent back radios that are brand new that their service department have replaced rather than try and repair the original, and then cloned the serial number over, which have arrived to us immediately from repair with crashed firmware. They then accept them back as warranty (eventually, after mass arguement) then send us a repair charge for "physical damage - this radio has been dropped down" and also "defective audio amplifier repaired and this radio shows evidence of previous repair work and will be charged at a higher rate".
BOTH radios were brand new replacements for radios their staff couldn't/didn't want to repair!!!
We always argue over repair faults, as radios go back for one thing and we get told have something different done to them. I can understand that not everything is apparent to us and we miss things, but gee they really do try it on.
Most of the time they are unable to provide a more detailed report. Hmmm.....

And as for obsolete models... if i sent in an obsolete/discontinued model, they'd send it straight back untouched! or keep it for £50 off a new radio on their buy-back scheme!!!!!

Rant over. I feel better now hehehe

We have had several 1225's return as CDMs due to the manufacturer no longer in production. Same with P1225s, I now have over 2 dozen waiting for housings. Its been 6 months, and they are saying maybe another 6. I have escalated this....

Some of my customers bought new PR400s to replace the 1225s.

That is the same person we have been fighting with over the "thousands" of lost radios. They built us a new MTS2000 and shipped GROUND and then recalled it the day it was out for delivery. The DHL track showed it was "unable to deliver, business closed" and that was not true. I called DHL to let them know their driver is a mental midget. When I got to a supervisor she told me Carlos had called and requested it recalled. I asked her why it showed "business closed" and she told me that is just the code the driver used when it was recalled. I asked that she correct that, and again I still the driver is a mental midget for using the incorrect code. (Escom was correct about DHL, you would not believe the stories I have heard since I have asked around about DHL).

Anyway the reason Carlos had recalled the MTS is they found the original one we sent that FedEx had picked up and lost. In an email he said "FedEx has just delivered us all the radios back". They are still blaiming FedEx even though FedEx shows they never picked it up. It gets better, the recalled package is going back ground, and Carlos would not ship the radio back till they had the new unit back. That is just BS, we had to open another case (why did they close the first one before we had a radio back in had?) and escalated it so they would ship our radio back that had been in the depot since mid May. We did get the radio back on Thursday and with the radio was the normal XTL service plan add, the repair tag, and in internal email all in Spanish.

How long can this stuff go on?

Jim

Carlos CASTANEDA?! :o

If you want to understand why I boggled on that one, look here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Castaneda

Granted, that other Castaneda died in 1998. However, read through the Wikipedia entry a bit. I will wager you'll find some amusing parallels, considering that Mexirola seems to operate according to its own highly-warped version of Reality.

Keep the peace(es).
