XTS-5000 and MDC Decode

Post by libuff »

have an XTS-5000R model 2:
flash: 100008-000002-8
host:7.02.00
dsp:7.01.01

and i can't seem to get MDC decode enabled, it doesn't show up as an option in the Astro25 Ver.10 software. Normally shows under the Radio Configuration --> Displays & Menu --> PTT ID, however that tab is missing for some reason... although when i connect my XTS2500 the tab appears.

i was under the understanding (from a host 6.3 price sheet) that MDC decode/encode is standard on the HOST for those vers and after..

What radios do you own?: XTS5000, APX2000

You need Digital ID added. It is the H14 "Enhanced Digital ID Display" option. It would make the first number in your flashcode a "5", there by making it 500008-000002-8. Any MSS should be able to handle the upgrade.

i was under the understanding that that option related to "digital" id's only... is that for conventional MDC ID's as well?

howabout firmware upgrade, would that solve anything?

where can i find a MSS?

Thanks for the quick replies

As stated you need to have it flashed for h14 which will make your flashcode start with "5". Contact your local MSS. It used to be a 75 buck option.

Unless I'm missing something, I think the answer is wrong. For conventional (non-trunked, non-Astro) MDC ID, either raw IDs or aliases, you don't need H14. Either that or we've got about 500 radios that do something they're not supposed to.

On an XTS5000, at least with firmware R10.xx.xx or below, you need H14 enabled for the radio to decode MDC ID's, period.. The tab wont show up in the CPS without that option.

I have seen some of the newer XTS2500's with ID display already built in the Digital/Conventional feature set, but I have yet to see it this way on a 5000.

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

We have both 2500 and 5000; all FW is less than 10 (from memory, 8-maybe), and all decode MDC ID with alias (conventional, non-trunked, non-Astro, though by experiment, they also do this with Astro channel). Flash starts with "1"; only indicated Feature Set is Q811.

I'd like to see a codeplug from one of the 5000s.
