I have a couple of VHF antennas that are marked with the Moto logo.

My question: There are wide-band, low-split, and high-split VHF hellical Motorola antannas. How can I tell the model number or frequency range? Yes, I can tell they're hellically wound, but beyond that??

I would have THOUGHT the part number would be marked somewhere, but it's no place I can find.

Peter,

Motorola helical antennas are differentiated by the color of the insulator
surrounding the antenna base, or on the older antennas by the color painted
on the antenna plug. Do a search on this Board for color code information.
Some of the later rubber antennas have UHF, VHF, 800, or 900 molded on
them as well, but not specific bandsplit information. More information is
available for some items at http://www.Batlabs.com.

Ah!

Took me a minute to find that color-code (the first antenna I looked at was black). What can I say... I'm a newbie when it comes to these radios. But with your info, I was able to Google-up the list of color codes pretty easily. It's pretty simple, once you know where to look.
