HT1250 - MDC1200 Decoding Issue

Hey folks! I've had MDC decoding set up in my radio for quite some time now. My issue is that my radio does not decode an ID consistently, meaning, it will decode the correct ID, but not every time a MDC burst is sent to my radio. I'm guessing I may have a timing off in the Advanced tab of the MDC System.
My fault, I did not pay attention if this was an issue when I'm not scanning, but 99.9% of the time, my radio is in scan mode. Here is the parameters that I currently have set:

Pretime: 500ms Preamble Bit Sync: 0
Repeater Access: None
Ack Pretime: 50ms Intersequence Delay: 50ms
Fixed Retry Wait Time: 0.0

Any help would be appreciated, throw anything at me! Thanks!

need more info. first what is the band of the radio and what is the firmware version? i've ran into guys alot of times that have like a uhf r split and have found one or two frequencies of a trunking system and they are monitoring them and they hear the mdc burst but the radio won't decode or display it because they are monitoring it on a conventional channel. another thing is that you might not be catching the whole burst that the radio needs to hear to decode it? next thing is are you shure it is an mdc burst that you are hearing and not something else? as far as your settings it is set up fine right out of the box so you shouldn't have to mess with it.

LOL, I'm quite positive it's an MDC burst. It's VHF firmware VER. 5.09.13. I have my radio set to decode on several different channels, some being simplex, some repeater configurations... I don't really think it makes a difference. I run into the same issue with my CDM1250 in my truck, so I'm thinking its a MDC programming issue.

ok then is the radio scanning when this happens? the firmware is newer so that won't be an issue and your settings are fine. how weak or strong is the signal when this is happening?

The pre-time, etc., settings in your portable have nothing to do with MDC decode. Most likely the issue is one of timing, caused by the radio being in scan mode and not encountering the sent MDC word until mid-stream.

The MDC system was designed primarily for police and fire use, where scan is not the norm. When scanning, it is not uncommon when using a scanning radio that you don't pick up the subscriber ID until a subsequent reply.

The signals for the most part are moderate to strong. I have a feeling RKG is partially right, but that does not explain why post MDC bursts (when mic is un-keyed) are not received. I hear the whole transmission, but when the burst is sent theirs a 50/50 chance it will not decode.

i'd say the problem is on the transmit side and the radio creating the signal, it's possible the transmitting radios are not motorolas and they are using a third party board but not all other brands play nice with motorola. hard to tell without actually seeing it do this and know what other gear is involved but i'd say the problem is not on your end especially if both of your radios are doing the same thing.
