Whoring a MII XTS3000

Post by NSPD »

I have a VHF Model II XTS3000 coming in that I am planning to upgrade from Analog and load a whoreflash codeplug in. I want to put in a 1C5E flash, but i'm having a hard time finding a good codeplug for a Model II. What will happen if I put in a Model III codeplug?

What are the exact steps for doing this?

Not much. You just won't be able to select channels or zones by number, and can't use the "radio lock" feature or unlimited calling feature.

If you are putting in a model III s-record, you might as well upgrade it. escomm on here has the keyboards keypads and metal plates for model 3s. Panter88 on ebay has cheap model III cases, they take about a week and a half to come from Hong-Kong. All in all, the upgrade will run right $100, but I've always liked model IIIs vs IIs.

I'll leave the software side to others...

So, as I understand it... Loading a model III codeplug into the model II is okay, I just won't be able to lock the radio or change channels from the keypad. The Navigation buttons will still work properly?

I've heard sort of conflicting information that MTSX lab or Astro lab is involved.. which one is it?

It has an "N" DSP, so it should.
